It is intended to disconnect the solar array from downstream charge controllers, batteries, or inverters, but conductor arrangement and grounding must follow the exact system design. Are the 1,500V and 40A markings automatic approval for any one-string array? No. They are the published insulation-voltage and thermal-current ratings. The array's maximum open-circuit voltage at the coldest design temperature, operating current, short-circuit current, conductor protection, and applicable derating must all be checked. How quickly does the 2-pole switch suppress the DC arc when opened? The official specification states arc suppression in under 3ms. That feature supports DC switching, but users must still operate the disconnect as instructed and never unplug PV connectors under load as a substitute for the switch.
