Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to common questions about this product, setup, compatibility, and use.
What battery voltages does the SmartSolar MPPT 150/35 support?
It supports 12V, 24V, or 48V auto-select; 36V manual select. Battery voltage and charging profile must be confirmed before connecting the solar array.
What is the maximum solar-array voltage?
The absolute maximum PV open-circuit voltage is 150V. Array voltage rises in cold weather, so the cold-corrected open-circuit voltage must stay below this limit.
How much battery charge current can the SmartSolar MPPT 150/35 provide?
The maximum battery charge current is 35A. Victron lists nominal PV power of 500W at 12V, 1,000W at 24V, 1,500W at 36V, or 2,000W at 48V; extra array wattage may be clipped and never permits the voltage or short-circuit-current limits to be exceeded.
Can I configure the charge profile for lithium batteries?
Yes. VictronConnect provides preset and user-defined multi-stage charging settings. Use the battery manufacturer's required voltages, temperature limits, and BMS controls.
Does it include Bluetooth monitoring?
Yes. Bluetooth and VictronConnect provide setup, live data, history, and diagnostics. A VE.Direct port also supports compatible GX monitoring and wired integration.
Can the controller be installed outdoors?
Its electronics are rated IP43 and the connection area IP22. It needs the vertical mounting, ventilation, clearances, and environmental protection required by the Victron manual.
